Online Grocery Store Mumbai and Other Cities

More About Online Grocery Stores and Shopping

An online grocery store is a grocery store that allows private individuals and businesses to purchase groceries and grocery products online. They follow today’s emerging concept of moving the grocery store into the home, proving that no sector of the retail market can stay untouched by the online shopping phenomenon. It is now possible for the humble and even unknown grocery store to become digitized and available on your smartphone, tablet or computer.

As of today, December 6, 2012, the Indian Government has permitted 100 percent Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in this sector, i.e., Multibrand Retail, to the chagrin of many but to the smiles of more. In the contest in the Lower House of Parliament, the Lok Sabha, over the desirability of allowing FDI in multibrand retail, the Govt bagged 253 out of 471 votes. The Bill is yet to be passed in the Upper House of Parliament, the Rajya Sabha.

Rakesh Kapoor, the CEO of Reckitt Benckisser is betting big on demand from emerging markets to power ahead. According to him, “Our products do not necessarily correlate with day to day changes in GDP. They are more correlated with consumer demands and we are lucky to have a portfolio of brands where we have a huge majority with scope of further expansion. The better known brands are Harpic, Mortein and Dettol. We have been in India for 80 years-we are rather young in China.”

Unilever India also stands to benefit. Lifebuoy is one of Unilever's oldest brands, a brand that was truly 'global' before the term 'global brand' was invented. Lifebuoy Royal Disinfectant Soap was originally launched in 1894 as an affordable new product in the UK. Soon after launch, Lifebuoy soap traveled across the world, reaching consumers in the Middle East in their quest for better hygiene. Now Lifebuoyliquid soaps are seen stacked in supermarkets.

Online grocery stores in Mumbai are quoted first as the process began there and was a roaring hit. With both parents working in commuter-nightmare Metros, this was the only way to go. All cities and even town are into online shopping, including groceries in many cases.

Yogurt or Curd (Dahi) is a dairy product produced by bacterial fermentation of milk. The bacteria used to make yogurt are known as "yogurt cultures". Fermentation of lactose by these bacteria produces lactic acid, which acts on milk protein to give yogurt its texture and its characteristic tang. Worldwide, cow's milk, the protein of which mainly comprises casein, is most commonly used to make yogurt, but milk from water buffalo, goats, ewes, mares, camels, and yaks is also used in various parts of the world.

Buttermilk or Chhaas refers to a number of dairy drinks. Originally, buttermilk was the liquid left behind after churning butter out of cream. This type of buttermilk is known as traditional buttermilk. The term also refers to a range of fermented milk drinks, common in warm climates (e.g., Middle East, Pakistan, India, and the Southern United States) where unrefrigerated fresh milk otherwise sours quickly, as well as in colder climates such as Germany, Poland, Scandinavia and the Netherlands. This fermented dairy product known as cultured buttermilk is produced from cow's milk and has a characteristically sour taste caused by lactic acid bacteria. One of the more popular brands is Nestle’s curds & butter milk.
