The Sunday Times is one of the world’s best-known and respected media titles. Established in February 1821 as The New Observer, it was rechristened with its present name in October 1822. It is published by Times Newspapers Ltd, which also publishes The Times, Monday through Saturday. The sister papers came under the same ownership as late as 1966 and were taken over by the Rupert Murdoch News International group in 1981.

It has a readership of over 2.586 million with a male to female ratio of 54:46. The newspaper is renowned for its dispassionate political coverage, vigorous editorials and its airing of a diverse panoply of options, enveloping the Arts, entertainment, fashion, gossip and social comment.
